This is the 6th annual Hike for Mental Health organized by the White Plains Kiwanis Club. We will gather again at Cranberry Lake Preserve, a marvel of biodiversity, geology, historical heritage, and resilience. We will hike to honor our loved ones and their families who struggle with the pain of mental illness. We will continue to honor the lives of the special people we have known who died by suicide. With every step we take we will stamp out the stigma. And as we walk among the beauty of the trees, rocks, and everything in between, we will hike for our own mental health in challenging times, knowing that all loads are lighter when shared. HIKE for Mental Health is a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded on the vision of a world in which everyone, including those who suffer mental illness, can find the simple joy of living.
Our mission is to alleviate the suffering of those afflicted by mental illness, eliminate the associated stigma, and foster responsible use of wilderness trails.
As an all-volunteer organization, we distribute 100% of contributions raised by our hikes.
- 80% funds scientific research to understand and treat mental illness
- 20% conserves national wilderness trails
