I hike in memory of my Mom❤️ Claudette
This is a personal journey for me in many ways. As a child my Mom was labeled with “manic depression“. It was a time when mental illness was misunderstood, misdiagnosed, and often hidden behind closed doors.
In the 17 years she has been gone we have seen mental health become a number one health concern as well as eliminating the stigma associated with it.
It is no longer the invisible disease.
No one wants to be labeled and suffer or struggle with depression, darkness, Schizophrenia, anxiety, PTST, eating disorders…
We have to learn not to judge but support, understand and help
For 14 years Hike for Mental Health has done just that and MORE! It has created a space for many to enjoy the outdoors, challenge themselves to summit the highest peak on the eastern seaboard, soar with self esteem while conquering this goal…and for many others they did it for someone they love or lost
I am FOREVER Grateful for this platform that helped me embrace the cause of Mental Health Awareness ❤️
