I recently discovered HIKE for Mental Health while looking for ways to combine two things I’m passionate about- mental health advocacy and hiking. This will be my second official climb!  My son, Elijah, was diagnosed with a very severe case of Schizoaffective Disorder 3 years ago. We are aspiring Adirondack 46ers, having completed 30 out of the 46 so far. Our last hike was in 2022. He is currently in a state psychiatric hospital and unable to hike with me, but as his mother I carry him with me wherever I am. I’m hoping to honor him on this hike, while raising important funds to help continue research for brain diseases like his. I chose to join a hike with HIKE for Mental Health to help increase awareness and education about severe mental illness, raise necessary funding for the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation, and to also conserve wilderness trails. Would you consider making a donation, leaving a message, or sharing this page? Thank you.
