Goal is $1,000

$1,750 donated
I chose to join a hike with HIKE for Mental Health to help stamp out the stigma of mental illness and conserve wilderness trails. Would you consider making a donation, leaving a message, or sharing this page? This summer, my fundraiser will be a hike the Tuscalachia Loop. This is a 450 mile loop trail comprised of the Tuscarora Trail and a section of the Appalachian Trail. You can follow my updates on this page and my BlueSky page @thedieselat91.bsky.social. You can also follow me on Far Out at TheDieselAT1991. Thank you.

My many thanks to Dane, Jennifer, and Linda. Your generosity is truly overwhelming guys. I am writing this from my first campsite. 6.4 miles today in two hours and I’m feeling pretty good.
Thank you so much Johanna, Jason, and my wonderful family. Today hiked 16.6 miles. Pictures on my BlueSky page.
Many thanks to Paul for his support. Math folk sure have been generous!
Today’s hike: 18 miles. Spending night in the borough of Waynesboro PA. Pictures on my Bluesky page (link in my statement above).
Thanks Zhijun! Have now walked over 50 miles. Lots of rain yesterday and today.
17 miles yesterday, 15 today. Weather turned sunny but chilly. Tomorrow heading into Boiling Springs, PA for a day off.
Days 6 and 7 have led me to beautiful Boiling Spings PA. Taking most of day off from hiking to resupply, catch up on email, etc.
Day 8. Have now hiked slightly more than 100 miles. Spent most of the day traversing the scenic Cumberland Valley. Pictures on my BlueSky feed. Thanks Brian for the donation! I hope you are doing well.
Day 9. Today the blazes turned from white to blue. 13 miles today. The last 4.5 I had to haul 4L of water to the Charlie Irvin Shelter which has no reliable water source. This shelter is essentially built into the side of a cliff and has an amazing view. I’ll post pictures on Bluesky.
Day 12. Over 160 miles walked. Thank you Sharon and Eric!
My friends: I have decided to suspend my hike. My father-in-law Don McBurney passed away. He was a wise and kind man who will be dearly missed by many. Right now my family needs me so I’ll be heading back to Iowa for a while. Thank you so much for your support.
